Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Saddi Traders
Saddi Traders recognises that modern slavery and human trafficking are serious violations of fundamental human rights. We are fully committed to preventing these practices within our business and supply chains and to promoting ethical conduct at all levels.
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking do not exist in any part of our operations. Our approach reflects our commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability in all business relationships.
Whistleblowing and Reporting
Through our Whistleblowing Policy, aligned with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, all employees are encouraged to report any suspected unlawful conduct or serious concerns directly to senior management. All reports are thoroughly investigated and appropriate action is taken.
Relevant Policies
This statement supports and is supported by other company policies, including:
-
Corporate Social Responsibility
-
Anti-Bribery and Corruption
-
Whistleblowing
Formal procedures are in place to address any breach of these policies, including disciplinary action. All policies are regularly reviewed by the Director to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.
Mitigating Risk
Saddi Traders minimises the risk of modern slavery through the following measures:
-
Conducting strict vetting and audits of supply chain partners
-
Ensuring all workers are paid at least the minimum wage and have the legal right to work in the UK
-
Encouraging open reporting and protecting whistleblowers
-
Refusing to engage with any supplier known to be involved in unethical practices
-
Maintaining zero tolerance for slavery and human trafficking throughout our business and supply chain
Employee Training
To build awareness and promote vigilance, all employees receive training on modern slavery risks and reporting procedures. This training is included during onboarding and supported by written materials, including contacts for external authorities.
Performance Monitoring
We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures:
-
Regular audits conducted by Directors
-
Labour and compliance monitoring
-
Payroll system checks
-
Onboarding audit checklist before contracts are signed
Recruitment & Onboarding Controls
From the initial point of contact, all potential employees undergo thorough checks, including:
-
ID and right-to-work verification
-
In-person registration with a Saddi Traders team member to confirm voluntary participation
-
Confirmation that all documents belong to the applicant
-
Education on modern slavery at induction, including resources and reporting contacts
Where third-party labour suppliers are used, we ensure they are licensed by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) and maintain ongoing compliance with GLAA standards.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to reviewing and strengthening our practices annually to stay aligned with evolving legislation and best practices. Our Compliance team and wider staff are trained to recognise and respond to any signs of exploitation. In the event of suspected abuse, we act swiftly and work closely with the appropriate authorities.
Saddi Traders remains firmly committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and taking proactive steps to prevent human trafficking and modern slavery across all aspects of our business.
